BeSTGRID: Broadband-enabled Science and Technology Grid
BeSTGRID was a Tertiary Education Commission Innovation and Development Fund project (2006-2008) to pilot eResearch infrastructure in New Zealand. BeSTGRID is now continuing as a collegial in-kind community that will hopefully evolve to include universities, CRIs, and industry. BeSTGRID is focused on how to make e-research work in New Zealand. The project involved first steps in the development of a pilot shared infrastructure that facilitates collaborative use of specialised tools in a specific discipline, bioinformatics. The community is continuing this work, expanding activity into other areas such as biotechnology, social sciences, chemistry and materials, and geospatial research.
