COMP112 2018 Tri 1: Submitting Assignments.

You may submit your answers to the assignments via your web browser from anywhere that you have web access.

Each assignment page has a link to the appropriate submission page where you can upload files from your computer to the submission system. You can also access these pages via the main COMP112 2018 Tri 1 submission system.

right First, Select the assignment you want to submit files for.

right Then upload files. To do so, use the +Add files... button, then navigate to and select the file(s) you want to submit. The submission system will either display a green or red line, depending on whether all the files were sucessfully added or not. If there is an issue, an error message is dislayed to help you identify what the problem is. The system stops adding the remaining files when encountering a problem.

right Finally, click the "Complete submission" button to complete the submission. This will run automated checking of your submitted files that we have set for each assignment (it will also email you a receipt). The box surrounding the "Complete sumbission" button turns green and shows the time of your competion, if your submission passes the checking. Otherwise, it remains blue and displays a message that contains instructions on how to fix the submission (It could be that some files have not successfully compiled, or that you have not submitted all the files we expect you to submit for the given assignment).

You may resubmit any file as many times as you like, but be careful:
  • The submission system will only show the latest version that you have submitted.
  • You should click the "Complete submission" button again after resubmitting an updated version of your files.

The system will let you submit any kind of file but the markers will only look at relevant files and only look at files that they can open
  • Keep the filename as simple as possible and do not use special characters. The allowed characters are A-Z, a-z, 0-9, spaces, underscores and dashes.
  • Don't expect the markers to look at files for any applications that we don't have on the lab computers.
  • Most files you submit will be .java files, and .txt (Reflection file). We can also read .doc, .pdf, and .xls files, but most assignments don't need these.

On the submission page, you can see a listing of all the files that you have submitted; always check that the files are the ones you intended to submit.
  • When submitting a java file, check that you submitted the .java file, not the .class file - every year some students submit the wrong ones, and we can't mark their assignment!!!
  • When you click the "Complete submission" button, the system should send you an email message about your submission; if you don't get an email message, then you didn't finish the submission process.
