Abstract

Massive multiuser MIMO with millimeter wave transmissions is seen as a key technological advancement to meet the exponentially growing demand for wireless data. Theoretical analysis of the performance of these systems requires accurate channel models for the propagation of signals through urban environments. Although ray-based channels are seen as a very accurate representation of these channels, very little analysis exists in the literature to date. This proposal begins with an explanation of pertinent background information and an overview of the existing relevant research and the gap therein. The sections following include the work done to date to partially fill this gap, and the future plans for the completion of a detailed investigation into the performance of massive multiuser MIMO systems in ray-based channels.
