Abstract

Audio source separation remains a challenging problem in many situations, especially when there are fewer observations than sources. This is the case of polyphonic recordings where multiple sources are recorded onto single channels. In order to improve the audio source separation results we propose a technique called informed audio source separation where the separation algorithm relies on prior information of the sources being separated. The goal of this keynote is to discuss and describe these techniques and how they were used in the recent “Beatles Live at the Hollywood Bowl”.
