Abstract

The Internet of Things is a concept that has taken on increased importance over the last few years with several major computer networking companies investing significant resources under the premise that IoT will become a reality that will have strong impact on technology around the world. The first half of this presentation will provide an introduction into the Internet of Things and its potential impact. The second half of this presentation will focus in on a few key research issues or pieces of the IOT puzzle that scientists must resolve before the Internet of Things will become a part of our daily lives.

Spearker Biography:
Bob Kinicki has been a CS professor at WPI for 38 years and he is retiring in June 2016. His research areas have included operating systems, computer networks performance, congestion control, wireless networks, cellular networking, MAC layer wireless sensor network protocols and the Internet of Things.
