COMP 312: Simulation and Stochastic Models

COMP 312 CRN 10444, 15 Points (2009 2/3)
Prerequisites: COMP 205 or 206 (or 201), STAT 131, MATH 114
Restrictions: OPRE 352
Lectures: Mon Thu 11-12, Tue 3-4 timetable
Tutorials: 1 hour per week, to be arranged.
Laboratories: Computer lab, times to be arranged.
Assignments: A major simulation assignment and a number of shorter assignments
Assessment: Either 40% coursework, 60% final exam or 100% final exam, whichever is greater
Course Materials: A suitable scientific calculator will be needed, cost approximately $25.
Textbook: Hillier, F.S. and Lieberman, G.J., Introduction to Operations Research (8th ed.), McGraw-Hill, 2005.
Prescription: An introduction to computer simulation and queues using stochastic models.
