FoD: what to do

If you're lucky enough to find yourself hosting this week's Festival here's what you do...

The way it works is when it's "your week" you get to organise it, meaning you can

  • talk about a topic yourself OR
  • find someone else to talk OR
  • tell everyone it's off.

If you talk, it can be about anything at all, e.g. an interesting paper you've read, a half-baked idea that you'd like to kick around, or (heaven forbid) your actual research! Have a look at suggested fod topics for ideas too.

Then:

  1. give yourself a title and brief abstract, and make a page on http://ecs.victoria.ac.nz/Groups/AI/FestivalOfDoubt
  2. post an email to everyone (via fod@ecs.vuw.ac.nz). Do this with a couple of days to spare. It can be as simple as a one-liner directing them to the above page.

If in doubt about a topic, try the automatic FoD title generator. Oops that no longer works. TODO: fix! Marcus has prototype but doesn't know how to insert python into the wiki. Uses auto title generator lists (don't delete those...). Marcus has changed the previous program to a new python version. It reads the names, nouns, adjectives, etc from FoD web and gives you a new person-topic pair. Try it out, it's down here in the attachments.
